Thank you for visiting. ASA was founded in 1974 by Mrs. Virginia P. Elbinias, then incumbent President of the Philippine Association of Secretaries and Administrative Professionals, Inc. (PAS). PAS hosted the first Asian Congress of Secretaries in Manila that year which was attended by secretaries from secretarial associations from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia,
Philippines, Republic of China, Thailand and Australia.
ASA got its new name in September 1998 during the 13th ASA Congress in Bangkok, in view of the United Nations definition that “Asia is a vast region, which includes Russia and the Pacific Rim countries.” ASA is affiliated to the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) with headquarters in Kansas City, U.S.A.
The formation of ASA had created a means for secretarial associations to communicate with each other for the betterment of the individual association and the profession. The beautiful idea of setting larger Asian Association was promoted and to date there are 14 member-country Associations.
We hope you will take a few minutes to browse our website and learn more about ASA. If you need more information, please contact the ASA secretariat. We look forward to hearing from you.
